Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that at: a) 250 Route 46 West, Parsippany, NJ While cutting a tree down, employees were exposed to being struck by a tree because of its location on a sloped hill, because of its bowed shape, and because of obstructions around the tree preventing rapid egress from the immediate area of the tree base. Feasible methods of abatement include, but are not limited to, the following requirements from ANSI Z133.1-1973: 1-Provide proper training for all employees who are engaged in the process of tree removal; 2-Assess the tree location and shape and to take corrective measures before felling the tree; 3-Clear the work area to permit safe working conditions, and plan an escape route before any cutting is started. Violation observed on or about 10-1-07
