Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: On or about 08/29/2007, one employee was struck-by a piece of granite counter top while working at a construction site located at 6801 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL. The employee was exposed to being crushed-by falling pieces of granite slabs. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is for the employer to ensure that stated safety practices of propping the front of the slab containers are strictly followed and enforced. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
