Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 03/14/2008, at a site located at 4040 Galt Ocean Drive, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, four employees were riding on top of a moving service elevator and were exposed to the hazards, such as but not limited to struck-by and crushing by the elevator and the elevator shaft gear. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that employee are prohibited from riding on top of elevator cars at all times. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
