Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of being struck by material thrown from
grinder:
a)  On the north side of a construction site facing Bayonne resident area,
Bayonne, NJ.
Employees rotating and replacing tips did not torque the grade 8 bolts,
thereby exposing the
employees to being struck tips thrown from the machine.
Violation occurred on or about 07/20/2007.
One feasible means, among other, to correct this hazard is to have all
employees follow the
owner/operator manual and torque the grade 8 bolts.
