Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the scholar lunch room of the Segundo Ruiz Belvis School; the employees
were
cooking and serving food to the students, washing trays and kitchen
utensils and cleaning
the tables. The area showed cracks on the floor, walls and the ceiling, in
addition to
pieces of the ceiling concrete were loosening from the area were the gas
lines
pass,
located justly were employees cooked, also exist a unevenness on the floor
provocated
by the cracks producted between the kitchen area and the area were the
tables of the
eating area.
Hazard: Hit by concrete pieces, trip and falls.
Among other correction methods, a feasible and acceptable to correct this
hazard is to
repair the structural damages of the building.
En el comedor escolar de la Escuela Segundo Ruiz Belvis; las empleadas
estaban
cocinando y sirviendo alimentos a los estudiantes, lavando bandejas y
utensilios de cocina
y limpiando las mesas. El area presentaba grietas en el piso, las paredes
y el techo,
ademas pedazos del techo estaban desprendiendose del area por donde
pasaban las lineas
del gas, ubicada justamente donde cocinaban las empleadas, tambien existia
un desnivel
en el piso ocasionado por las grietas producidas entre el area de la
cocina y el area donde
estaban ubicadas las mesas de comer.
Riesgo: Golpeados por pedazos de concreto, tropezones y caidas.
Entre otros metodos, uno factible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es
reparar los
danos estructurales del edificio.ales
