Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that

El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the pedestrian gate of FURA, it was observed that the gate electric
lock was not
working. It was out of the sight of the camera installed at the entrance,
permitting
the
people accessing to the working area whitout been seen by the agent in
charge of the
cameras. During the night the area was dark and the employees were in
danger, due the
lack of safety measures at the pedestrian gate. The employees were working
with the
helicopters and planes of the unit.
Hazard: Lack of security.
Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard, is to
repair the pedestrian gate electric lock to provide more control of the
people who enter
the working area.
En el porton peatonal de FURA, se observo que la cerradura electrica no
estaba
funcionando. Este estaba fuera del area de visibilidad de la camara
instalada en la
entrada, permitiendo a las personas acceder el area de trabajo sin ser
visto por el agente
a cargo de las camaras. Durante la noche el area estaba obscura y los
empleados estaban
en riesgo, debido a la falta de medidas de seguridad en el porton
peatonal. Los
empleados estaban trabajando en los helicopteros y aviones de la unidad.
Riesgo: Falta de seguridad.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es reparar
la cerradura electrica del porton peatonal para proveer mas control de las
personas que
accedan el area de trabajo.

At the hangar area of FURA, it was observed that the doors were defective,
rusted and
can't be handle by the employees to be closed when was necessary. The
moving
mecanism of it's were damaged and could make the door falls when were
moved by the
employees that were working with the helicopters.
Hazard: Struck by the doors.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is, to
repair the doors and make it safe for the employees use.
En el hangar de FURA, se observo que las puertas estaban defectuosas,
corroidas y no
podian ser manejadas por los empleados para ser cerradas cuando era
necesario. El
mecanismo de movimiento de estas estaba danado y podia hacer que las
puertas se
cayeran cuando eran movidas por los empleados que estaban trabajando con
los
helicopteros.
Riesgo: Golpeados por las puertas.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es, reparar
las puertas y hacerlas seguras para el uso de los empleados.

At the FURA facilities located at Aereal Base Salvador T. Roig, it was
observed that the
area of the hangar designed for repairs and surrounding areas, were not
adequate
illuminated as stated in the American National Standard Practice For
Industrial Lighting
A11.1-1973 that stated for repair services an illumination of 100
Foot-Candles. The
illumination was from 8 to 0 Foot-Candles. The employees were repairing
the helicopter
and accessing its to go make their patrol tasks.
Hazard: Low or poor visibility.
Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard, is to
repair the illumination of the area or change the damage lamps to provide
adequate
illumination.
En las facilidades de FURA localizadas en la Base Aerea Salvador T. Roig,
se observo
que el area del hangar designada para reparaciones y sus areas limitrofes,
no estaban
adecuadamente iluminadas como indicado en el "American National Standard
Practice
For Industrial Lighting" A11.1-1973 el cual indicaba que para servicios de
reparaciones
debia ser una iluminacion de 100 Pies-Candela. La iluminacion era de 8 a 0
Pies-
Candela. Los empleados estaban reparando el helicoptero y accedian a estos
para ir a
realizar los patrullajes.
Riesgo: Baja o pobre visibilidad.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es, reparar
la iluminacion del area o cambiar las lamparas danadas para proveer una
iluminacion
adecuada.on

The employer did not have a protocol to handle domestic violence in the
workplace, as
required by the Act for implementation of a Protocol to Handle Domestic
Violence
Situations in the Workplace or Place of Employment, Act No. 217 of 2006.
Hazard: Fatalities, injuries, and illnesses related to domestic violence
in the workplace.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard
is to
develop a written protocol to handle domestic violence in the workplace
and provide
training to all the employees. Information is available at the Women's

A Guide for Employers: Domestic Violence in the Workplace, and other
references
provided during the inspection.
El patrono no tenia un protocolo para manejar violencia domestica en el
lugar de trabajo,
segun requerido por la Ley para la Implantacion de un Protocolo para
Manejar
situaciones de Violencia Domestica en el Lugar o Sitio de Trabajo, Ley
Num. 217 de
2006.
Riesgo: Fatalidades, lesiones y enfermedades relacionadas a violencia
domestica en el
lugar de trabajo.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es
desarrollar un protocolo escrito para manejar violencia domestica en el
lugar de trabajo
y proveer adiestramiento a todos los empleados. Informacion esta
