Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

estaban expuestos
a:
At the DE Francisco Oller School, the teachers were performing educational
task, took
care of groups of on 20 students by group. The air conditioning system, in
the library
and in several classrooms, was not working. The guillotine type windows in
the
classrooms prevented adecuate air circulation. Even with fans, at
approximately
10:00
am the temperature exceeded the recommended range (73-79 fahrenheit
degrees)
established in ANSI/ASHRAE 55-1992, Table 3.

Hazard: Heat stress.
Among other correction methods, a feasible and acceptable abatment method
to correct
this hazard is repair the air conditioning system.
En el DE Escuela Francisco Oller, los maestros realizaban labores de
docencia, atendian
grupos de sobre 20 estudiantes por grupos. En varios salones incluyendo la
biblioteca del
edificio nuevo de vocacional, el sistema de acondicionador de aire no
estaba funcionando.
Los salones contaban con ventanas tipo guillotina, este sistema impedia la
circulacion
adecuada de aire. Aun cuando habia abanicos, aproximadamente a las 10:00am
se
tomaron medidas de temperatura que sobrepasaron los valores recomendados
de (73-79
grados "fahrenheit") segun establecido en el ANSI/ASHRAE 55-1992, Tabla 3.

Riesgo: Estres por calor.
Ademas de otros metodos, un metodo de correccion factible y aceptable para
corregir
este riesgo es reparar el sistema de aire acondicionado.
