Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the warehouse of the Supermercados Amigo in Torrimar, it was observed
that the
employees exited and entered to the warehouse by 26" inches wide exit
which then
reduced to a 17" inches wide stair that lead to the trucks loaded with
merchandise parked
at the back of the building in the receiving area. To get to the trucks
the
employees had
to lower themselves and descend to 3 feet of high in order to pass under
trucks stationed
in the area of receiving because the exit was blocked by trucks.  The
employees passed
through this area to communicate with the drivers of the trucks arriving
or leaving the
receiving area.
Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is, to
remove the trucks parked in that area, remove the trucks and build an exit
door which
meets the aplicable industrial, NFPA and  OSHA Standars (1910.36).
Hazard: Struck in the head when employees passed under the trailer.
En el area de almacen Supermercados Amigos de Torrimar, se encontro que los
empleados salian y entraban al almacen por una salida de 26" pulgadas de
ancho la cual
se reducia a 17" pulgadas al llegar a una escalera que conducia a los
camiones con
mercancia, estacionados en la parte posterior del edificio. Para llegar a
los
camiones los
empleados se tenian que doblar y bajar hasta 3 pies de alto para pasar por
debajo de unos
furgones de carga estacionados en el area de recibo, debido a que la
salida estaba
bloqueada por estos furgones. Los empleados pasaban por esta area para
lograr
comunicacion con los choferes de los camiones que llegaban o salian.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es, remover
los camiones estacionados en esa area, remover los camiones y construir
una puerta de
salida que cumpla con los estandares industriales aplicables, NFPA y OSHA
Standars
(1910.36).
Riesgo: Golpes en la cabeza cuando empleados pasaban bajo los furgones de
carga.es
