Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees were exposed to hazards associated with fires and/or explosions due to storing incompatible flammable liquids (acetone) and oxidizers (calcium hypochlorite) in the same area at approximately 10 feet apart. One feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to store the incompatible materials in separate lockers at least 25 feet apart from each other. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is not required for this item.
