Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees in that employees were exposed to: (a): Auto repair shop: On or about February 19, 2010 and at times prior thereto, employees were exposed to a struck by and crushing hazard while elevating vehicles in a two post lift without the rated load capacity marked on the lift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard noted is to follow the requirements in ANSI/ALI ALOIM 2008 which include, among other requirements, the following: 1. Markings shall include rated load capacity of the lift. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item.
