Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employee(s) retrieving boxes from shelves up to 10 feet above floor level, were standing on a wooden pallet raised on the forks of a Raymond forklift truck. The employee(s) were exposed to fall hazards in that there was no fall protection in place and the pallet was not affixed to the forks of the forklift. AMONG OTHER METHODS, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to use an approved platform in accordance with ASME B56.1-2004. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
