AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THE HAZARD IS TO FOLLOW SECTION 4.3.2 OF ANSI
MH30.1-2000 (American National Standard for the Safety, Performance, and
Testing of Dock
Leveling Devices) which states "A smooth-faced toe guard shall be provided
on the sides of the
dock leveling device through the full recess length for the full operating
range of platform travel.
A toeguard shall also be provided for the rear edge of the dock leveling
device
if the edge is
vertically movable. The guards shall be rigid enough to restrict placement
of a foot under the
platform."
NOTE: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this
item in
accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.ce
