Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: (a) Jobsite, LA Fitness, Pleasant Hills, PA: On or about 6/6/08 an employee was exposed to fall hazards of approximately 23 feet to the floor below when working in the self-propelled elevating work platform. The employee was standing on the midrail to gain additional height and was exposed to falling to the floor below. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is ensure that the employee keeps their feet on the floor of the self-propelled elevating work platform as set forth in the operator's warnings and instructions in ANSI/SIA A92.6 - 2006.
