North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and
Health Act of North
Carolina:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of
employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm
to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards:
a)facility, service/maintenance area - employer failed to ensure the
above-ground,
hydraulic, two-post ROTARY automotive lift was inspected by a qualified
inspector nor maintained by preventative maintenance personnel as
required.
One feasible and acceptable method of abatement, among others, to correct
this hazard
is for the employer to follow the procedures in the American National
Standard
Institute/Automotive Lift Institute Standard for Automotive Lifts- Safety
Requirements
For Operation, Inspection And Maintenance (ANSI/ALI ALIOIM-2000):  Chapter
5,
Periodic Qualified Inspection; and Chapter 6, Maintenance.
