General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational safety and Health Act of 1970: the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: On or about September 17, 2008, employees were allowed to work at heights from a makeshift basket which was supported by the forks of a powered industrial truck in order to stock and retrieve products from storage racks. The employees were not provided adequate means of fall protection and, thereby were exposed to falls of up to 14 feet to the floor. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods include following the requirements for lifting personnel explained in the ANSI/ASME B56.1-2000 Safety Standard for Low and High lift Trucks.
