Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards: a)Production: Hooks used on overhead cranes and slings were not provided with operational latches, on or about 10/16/07. ABATEMENT NOTES: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to: Provide hook latches for hooks as per ASME/ANSI B30.16-1987. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM, FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 AS PER 29 CFR 1903.19.
