Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a)Tripping and falling hazards causing severes contusions, fractures,
lacerations and
abrasions.
Employees were working daily and continually in different administrative
tasks
in an office which had the floor with some broken tiles.
Location:  at the workplace known as "DE Autoridad Escolar de Alimentos"
located at Mayaguez Goverment Center.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is the placement of new tiles.
a)Riesgos de tropiezos y caidas ocasionando contusiones severas, fracturas,
laceraciones y abrasiones.
Empleados estuvieron trabajando diaria y continuamente en diferentes tareas
administrativas en una oficina la cual tenia el piso con varias losetas
rotas.
Localizacion:  en el lugar de trabajo conocido como DE Autoridad Escolar de
Alimentos localizado en el Centro Gubernamental de Mayaguez.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es
la colocacion de losetas nuevas."

El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a)Do not have a fast exit way in case of any type of an emergency due to
the piling
of them and their respective working equipment in addition of receive
tripping
and falling hazards causing multiple strokes, lacerations, abrasions and
burning
hazards in case of a fire.
Employees were performing different tasks daily and continually in an
working
area of 27'2" large x 19'1" width which have writing desks, cabinets,
files,
chairs, boxes etc.  The employees occupancy load exceed the limits
established
by the National Fire Protection Association, The Life Safety Code Handbook
and
the Puerto Rico Fire Department Code to perform an orderly, securely and a
free
of obstacles exit in case of an emergency.  Such limits area 100 square
feet per
person and the final result of the measures taked by the CSHO (Compliance
Safety and Health Officer) was of 135'4" square feet net for seven
employees
working at the mentioned area.
Location:  at the workplace known as "DE Autoridad Escolar de Alimentos"
located at Mayaguez Goverment Center.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is the removing of the excessively equipment located at the
office and
make a better distribution of the personnel in such working area.
a)No tener un medio de salida rapido en caso de cualquier emergencia
debido al
hacinamiento de estos y sus respectivos equipos de trabajo ademas de
recibir
riesgos de tropiezos, caidas ocasionando golpes fuertes, laceraciones,
abrasiones
y quemaduras en caso de fuego.
Empleados estuvieron realizando diferentes tareas diaria y continuamente
en un
area de trabajo de 27'2" largo x 19'1" de ancho la cual tiene escritorios,
armarios, archivos, sillas, cajas etc.  La carga de ocupacion de los
empleados
excedio los limites establecidos por la Asociacion Nacional de Proteccion
para
fuego, el codigo de proteccion contra incendios del Cuerpo de Bomberos de
Puerto Rico, para realizar una salida ordenada, segura y libre de
obstaculos en
caso de una emergencia.  Dichos limites son 100 pies cuadrados netos por
persona y el resultado final de las medidas tomadas por el CSHO (Oficial de
Cumplimiento de Seguridad y Salud) fue de 135'6" cuadrados netos para
sieteempleados trabajando en dicha area cuando deben ser 700 pies
cuadrados netos.
Localizacion:  en el lugar de trabajo conocido como DE Autoridad Escolar de
Alimentos localizado en el Centro Gubernamental de Mayaguez.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es
la remocion del equipo excesivo localizado en la oficina y hacer una mejor
distribucion del personal en dicha area de trabajo."
