estaban expuestos

a)Workplace (San Jose Nursing Home) - employees responsible for direct
inmates
care; the employer did not have a written protocol for the handling of
scabiasis
cases, to minimize or eliminate the employees exposure.
Hazard:  contact with scabiasis.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard
is to establish and follow a written protocol for the handling of
scabiasis cases.
This protocol shall contain at least the following elements:
1.Training of nursing home employees in the characteristics and the way
scabiasis is transmitted.
2.Once a suspect case is detected, inform the home medical staff for
evaluation.
3.Prompt medical treatment to all detected cases.
4.Special precaution with contaminated objects such as towels, bed cloths,
furniture and other infected materials.
5.Contaminated clothing must be washed with hot water.
6.Provide employees with personal protective equipment such as latex
gloves.
a)Lugar de Trabajo (Hogar de Ancianos San Jose) - empleados responsables
del
cuidado directo de residentes; el patrono no tenia un protocolo escrito
para el
manejo de casos de escabiasis, para minimizar o eliminar la exposicion de
empleados.
Riesgo:  contacto con escabiasis.Entre otros metodos de correccion, un
metodo factible y aceptable para corregir
este riesgo es establecer y seguir un protocolo escrito para el manejo de
casos de
escabiasis.  Este protocolo tiene que contener como minimo los siguientes
elementos:
1.Adiestrar los empleados del hogar en las caracteristicas y modo de
transmision de escabiasis.
2.Una vez un caso sospechoso es detectado, informar al equipo medico del
hogar para evaluacion.
3.Tratamiento medico rapido de los casos detectados.
4.Tener precaucion especial con objetos contaminados tales como toallas,
ropa de cama, muebles y otro material contaminado.
5.La ropa contaminada se tiene que lavar con agua caliente.
6.Proveer a los empleados con equipo de proteccion personal tales como
guantes de latex."
