Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
estaban expuestos
a:
a)Workplace (negative pressure rooms: 218, 221, and others): the employer
did not
assure that isolation rooms were mantained under negative pressure.
Hazard: exposure to tuberculosis and airborne diseases.
One feasible and acceptable abatement method among others, to correct this
hazard is: the employer must assure that isolation rooms are maintained
under
negative pressure. At a minimum, the employer must use smoke trails or
some
other indicator to demonstrate that direction of air flow is from corridor
into the
isolation room with the door closed. Other methods to monitored negative
pressure are: differential pressure-sensing devices (e.g., manometer) and
physical
indicators (e.g., flutter strips).
Negative pressure rooms should have an airflow between 6 to 12 mechanical
air
changes.
Periodic checks are required to maintain the desired negative pressure.
The employer shall establish and maintain a log for the recording of
negative
pressure evaluations (periodic checks, air changes calculations, and
other).

patrono no
Riesgo: exposicion a tuberculosis y a enfermedades aerotransportadas.
presion (ej
manometros) e indicadores fisicos (ej "flutter strips").
cambios
de aire y otros).
