Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a)at the Head Start program, Rio Hondo; where the employees were performing
educational tasks, were observed two instances in which the illumination
in the
area was not sufficient enough to make the tasks in a safe and heathful
manner.
For efficient visual performance in general offices spaces the ANSI 132.1
recommend no less than 70 footcandles.
1. at Rio Hondo B Classroom was 13.5 footcandles.
2. at Rio Hondo C Classroom was 7.8 footcandles.
One feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to change the
flourescent bulbs in the area.
Hazard: visual problems.
a)en el programa Head Start, Rio Hondo; donde los empleados trabajaban
realizando sus tareas de oficina, se observaron dos casos en los cuales la
iluminacion en el area no era la suficiente para realizar las tareas de
manera
segura y saludable. Para un funcionamiento visual eficiente en espacios de
oficina
lo recomendado por el ANSI 132.1 no debe ser menor de 70 pies por bujias.
1. Salon Rio Hondo B habia 13.5 pies bujias.
2. Salon Rio Hondo C habia 7.8 pies bujias.
Un metodo aceptable y factibles para corregir la condicion seria
reemplazar las
bombillas fluorescentes.
Riesgo: problemas visuales."
