proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a)At the Puerto Rico Telephone Company Inc dba Claro, the employee work at
Customer Service and Sales Department providing mobile phone related
services
to customer. The following ergonomics hazard were founded:
1. The employee regularly using the keyboard when performing the
job-specific
customer service tasks at the workstation, the keyboard was below elbow
height
of the employee resulting in extended wrist while performing repetitive
typing
tasks. Awkward posture is adopted and maintained.
2. A wrist support for typing was not currently available at the
workstation, the
employee was frequently observed resting the hands and/or wrist against
hard/sharp edge of the counter's work surface.
3. The employee regularly using a mouse including clicking, dragging and/or
scrolling movements. The current placement of the mouse causing awkward
wrist
posture. The employee was frequently observed extending and/or abducting
the
shoulder while using the mouse. Awkward posture was adopted and maintained.
4. The top of the monitor appears considerably below eye level of the
operator,
forcing the operator to bend the neck/head, when the employee wrote
manually
using the informtion displayed on the monitor. Awkward posture was adopted
and
maintained.
5. The employee was frequently observed bending excessively foward while
fully
extending the arms when interacting with the customers. Awkward posture of
the
back and upper extremities was repeatdly adopted and maintained during the
day
while assisting the customers.
6. The mobile phones were usually kept in the locked storage cabinet that
is
adjacent to shelves located below the counter's work surface. The employee
was
foreced to deeply bend the trunk when trying to reach for and pick up the
phones.
Awkward posture of the trunk was adopted.
7. The employee adopted a prolonged standing posture, wich one were
associated
with varios health problems such as venous insufficiency, pre-term birth in
pregnant woman, musculoskeletal discomfort, fatigue and pain. 8. Due to
physical environment at the counter including regular exposure to
prolonged standing and/or walking in the hard floor, the employee
experienced
an increased risk of work-related MSDs.
Hazard: Awkward posture of the wrist, neck and shoulders, MSDs of neck,
upper
back, back, lower back pain.
Among others methods of correction, various factible and acceptable
methods for
corrected these hazards are the following:
1.Modifying current design and layout of individual workstations. That
includes a writting platform (copy holder); adjustable keyboard tray with
built wrist support; anti-fatigue mat.
2.Installing retractable drawers in the storage cabinet located underneath
the
counter's work surface that is used to store/keep various telephone
products.
3.Using an appropriate chair or stool at the workstation.
4.Proper placing of the computer monitor at the workstation, as well as
adjusting brightness and contrast of its display.
5. Placing the telephone and other frequently used office accesories and/or
tools withing the range of confortable reach with respect to the employee
working at the workstation.
6.Providing a pen with thick-grip cushion to the employee.
a)En Puerto Rico Telephone Company Inc dba Claro, el empleado realizaba
sus trabajos en el Area de Servicio al Cliente y Ventas de celulares a sus
clientes. Los siguientes riesgos ergonomicos fueron encontrados:
1.El empleado regularmente utilizaba un teclado cuando realizaba su tareas
de asistencia al cliente en la estacion de trabajo, el teclado quedaba por
debajo de la altura del codo del empleado  teniendo que estirar sus
munecas mientras realizaba sus tareas repetitivas de mecanografiar.
Posturas extremas son adoptadas y mantenidas.
2.Un descansa munecas para mecanografiar, no estaba disponible en la
estacion de trabajo, el empleado fue frecuentemente observado
descansando sus manos y/o munecas contra el borde filoso/duro de la
superficie del mostrador de trabajo.
3.El empleado usaba regularmente el "mouse" incluyendo movimientos
verticales, de agarre y golpear. La posicion actual del "mouse" ocasionaba
posturas extremas de las munecas. El empleado fue
frecuentemente  observado extendiendo y/o estirando el hombro mientras
usaba el "mouse". Posturas extremas fueron adoptadas y mantenidas.
4.El tope de la pantalla se encontraba considerablemente por debajo del
nivel del ojo del operador, forzando al operador a doblar el cuello y la
cabeza, cuando este escribia a mano la informacion mostrada en la
pantalla. Posturas extremas fueron adoptadas y mantenidas.
5.El empleado fue observado frecuentemente doblandose excesivamente
hacia adelante mientras extendia sus brazos cuando interactuaba con los
clientes. Posturas extremas de la espalda y las extremidades superiores
fueron repetitivamente adoptadas y mantenidas durante el dia mientras se
asistian a los clientes.
6.Los telefonos celulares fueron usualmente guardados en un gabinete con
llave que estaba adyacente a las tablillas de debajo de la superficie de
trabajo. El empleado se veia forzado a doblar su tronco cuando trataba de
alcanzar y agarrar los celulares. Posturas extremas del tronco fueron
adoptadas.
7.El empleado adopaba una postura de pie prolongada, la cual esta asociada
con varios problemas de salud que incluyen insuficiencia cronica de las
venas, parto prematuro en mujeres embarazadas como quejas de
incomodidad musculoesqueletal, fatiga y dolor.
8.Debido al ambiente fisico del mostrador incluyendo la exposicion regular
de estar de pie por un tiempo prolongado y/o caminar sobre el piso duro,
el empleado experimenta aumento de los riesgos musculoesqueletales
relacionado al trabajo.
Riesgo: Posturas extremas de las munecas, hombros y cuellos; Desordenes
musculoesqueletales de las espalda superior, espalda y dolor de espalda
baja.
Entre otros metodos de correccion, un metodo factible y aceptable para
corregir este riesgos son los siguientes:
1.Modificar el diseno y  plan de la estacion individual del trabajo,
que incluya una plataforma para escribir (copy holder); bandeja
ajustable del teclado con un descansa munecas; alfombra anti-
fatiga.
2.Instalar unas gavetas retractables en el gabinete cerrado con llave
localizado debajo de la superficie de trabajo que es usado para
almacenar varios productos de celulares.
3.Utilizar una silla o banquillo en la estacion de trabajo.
4. Colocar apropiadamente un monitor de computadora en la estacion
de trabajo que se pueda ajustar, tanto el contrataste como el brillo
de la pantalla.
5. Colocar el telefono y otros accesorios y/o herramientas de oficina
usados frecuentemente dentro de un rango comodo para alcanzar
con respecto al empleado y la estacion de trabajo.
6.Proveer un lapiz acojinado con agarre a los empleados.

reconocimiento de signos y sintomas tempranos y la importancia  cuando los
empleados estaban expuestos a posturas extremas de las munecas, hombros,
cuello; desordenes musculoesqueletales de la espalda; dolor de espalda
baja,
estres por contacto debido al diseno al diseno de la estacion de trabajo.
Riesgo: Posturas extremas de las munecas, hombros y cuellos; Desordenes
musculoesqueletales de las espalda superior, espalda y dolor de espalda
baja.
Entre otros metodos de correccion, un metodo factible y aceptable para
corregir
este riesgos son los siguientes:
Proveer un adiestramiento que le ensene a los empleados los principios
basicos
de ergonomia, reconocimiento de riesgos ergonomicos, solucion de problemas,
metodos de trabajo adecuado, practicas y tecnicas como tambien el
reconocimiento de signos y sintomas temprano y la importancia de reportar
los
mismos.r
