Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to a fall hazard by standing on the top rail of a GS-3246 Scissor Lift. (a)Calvary Baptist Church, Mendenhall, MS - On or about July 30, 2008 an employee was observed standing on the top rail of a GS-3246 Scissor Lift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard included but not limited to: Prohibit employees from sitting, standing or climbing on the platform guardrails.
