Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards from a damaged abrasive wheel as to; (a)On or about September 11, 2008, in the maintenance shop, the side of the abrasive grinding wheel on the post mounted bench grinder was severely worn due to grinding welding tips on the side of the wheel. Reference ANSI B7.1 - 1970. Among others, one feasible and useful abatement method to correct this hazard is to: (1)Purchase an abrasive wheel or grinder designed to be used for this purpose.
