North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that an employee was exposed to the hazard of falling from the front bucket of a backhoe being used as a work platform: Reference:John Deere Operator's Manual 310G - "Do not allow anyone to ride in the bucket or use the bucket as a work platform." (a)Ingles, Job Site - An employee was observed using the front bucket of a backhoe as a work platform. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use an adjustable ladder.
