Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being Crush-By/Struck-By pivot frame base: a) Worksite located at 222 New Road, Parsippany, NJ. An employees hand was struck by a 430 lb pivot frame base resulting in the amputation of his left middle finger tip. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use larger metal shims to support larger parts and perform the work on a larger table that will support the larger parts.
