Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being caught by moving equipment. Sixth floor of the Head House on the Bin Deck; a) The employer did not ensure that the six (6) conveyor belts were equipped with a working audible alarm to alert employees that the "Tripper" was about to start-up. b) The employer did not ensure that emergency stopping devices ont the conveyor belts were easily accessible and did not require an employee to enter a potentially hazardous location. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to: a)Install an audible alarm that is capable of being heard over the surrounding noise b)Mount the emergency pull cable on the outside of the "Tripper".
