Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to an employee in that the employee was exposed to a struck-by hazard while operating a chain saw: a) 900 Gulf Blvd., Indian Rocks Beach - an employee was exposed to being struck-by a Stihl Chain Saw, in that: the employee was operating the chain saw with one hand. One feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standard for Arboricultural Operations-Safety Standards (ANSI Z133.1-2006). Ensure that the employee operating a chain saw holds the saw firmly with both hands (reference paragraph 6.3.7 of ANSI Z133.1-2006).

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to an employee in that the employee was exposed to a fall hazard while operating a chain saw on a ladder: a) 900 Gulf Blvd., Indian Rocks Beach - an employee was exposed to a fall of approximately 18 feet, in that: the employee was operating a chain saw while standing on an extension ladder without being tied in or secured. One feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standard for Arboricultural Operations- Safety Standards (ANSI Z133.1-2006). Ensure that the employee is tied in or secure when operating a chain saw and standing on an extension ladder (reference paragraph 8.1.20 of ANSI Z133.1-2006).
