Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to STRUCK-BY/CRUSHING HAZARDS. (A) Location - Sky Meadow Country Club, Golf Course. On or about 01/26/09, the employer failed to establish and implement a safe work practice of felling trees, in that there were no work practices in planning and utilizing safe escape routes for the cutter and all employees in the crew. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to establish and implement safe work practices outlined in ANSI Z133.1-2006, regarding safe escape routes for the cutter and all employees in the crew and ensure employees are trained in and using safe work practices.
