North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)warehouse - an initial inspection was not performed on a 500lb capacity Gorbel floor crane with attached 1/4 ton Coffin hoist prior to being placed into operation. Reference:ANSI B30.11 - 1998, Chapter 11-2, Section 11-2.1, Paragraph 11-2.1.1(a). Prior to initial use all new, altered, or modified hoists (cranes) shall be inpsected. Note: Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is have all overhead hoists (cranes) load tested.)
