exposed to caught in and/or struck by hazards:
a.Sulzer Metco Coating, Spraying Booths #1, 2, and 3: Personnel were not
protected from the hazard of being struck by the moving robotic arms in the
robotic spraying booths, as determined on or about 03/05/09.
ABATEMENT NOTE:
One feasible and acceptable means to abate this hazard is safeguarding
personnel from hazards
of the work envelope of the three spray booths in the shop area by
presence-sensing devices,
permanent barrier, interlocked barrier, or perimeter guarding per Section
6.2 of ANSI/RIA
R15.06-1986.

booth
operation was not located outside the robot system work envelope in sight
of the
robot, exposing employees to potential struck-by hazards, as determined on
or
about 03/05/09.
ABATEMENT NOTE:
One feasible and acceptable means to abate this hazard is to locate the
main control panel in
sight of the robot per Section A-5 of OSHA INSTRUCTION PUB 8-1.3 SEP,
1987, OFFICE
OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES FOR ROBOTIC SAFETY.
