Condition:Employees were exposed to dust explosion, deflagration, and
other fire hazards from
the three Delta table saws and one Delta joiner enclosureless dust
collection systems
located within ten feet of the operators work station.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this
hazard is to relocate the dust
collection systems at a minimum 20 feet from an area routinely occupied by
personnel which means a lunch
room, meeting place or any routinely staffed work station. Also, the dust
collection systems must be located at
least 20 feet from any means of egress and maintain at least 20 feet from
each other. The collected dust must
be removed daily or more frequently to ensure efficient operation.
Installation, operation and maintenance of
the enclosureless dust collection systems must meet all applicable
standards including, but not limited to,
NFPA 664.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.)
is required for this item.
