being stored in the swing
path of tower crane:
a)West Side of the Site - A crane operator was traversing a loaded
concrete bucket,
weighing 14,000 lbs., towards an excavation when the load struck the top
scaffold
buck of a stairtower that was located immediately adjacent to the concrete
loading
area, causing it to fall over striking an employee who was located down on
the
lower level, on or about 02/25/08.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement methods to
correct this hazard is
to establish and enforce better communications between the crane operator
and signalmen.
Additionally, policies for keeping travel path of any suspended loads
clear and free of any tall
obstructions.
