Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:12/14/08 Location:Hearth and Home Technology Building Condition:Employees were exposed to dust explosion, deflagration, and other fire hazards from the recycling of the dust collection exhaust air back into the building. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard would be to equip the exhaust air duct conveying the recycled air back into the building with a high speed abort gate activated by spark detection that is in compliance with NFPA 664, and inspect and service the spark arrestor system per manufacturer's recommendation. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
