Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a pinch point crushing hazard by the counter weight section of the Bauer BG 24 H drilling rig: a) 39357 Inlet Rd., Rehoboth Beach, DE - Employees on the south side of Indian River Inlet Bridge project, were exposed to a pinch point crushing hazard created by the rotating superstructure of the Bauer BG-24-H drilling rig, and a 36" square concrete piling. This violation was observed on or about July 1, 2009. Abatement Note: One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to barricade the area around the rotating superstructure of the Bauer BG-24-H drilling rig.
