Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards created by exothermic self-accelerating decomposition, including fire and explosion: a) Building 361 Receiving Department - Trigonox SBP-C60 was stored for three to four days in a refrigerator at a temperature of approximately 35 - 40 degrees (manufacturer guidelines call for a storage temperature of -20 degrees centigrade). This condition was noted on or about May 14, 2010. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, HANDLING AND STORING ORGANIC PEROXIDES IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS.
