Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a wood burning stove that was installed inside of the building: a.) Production Area West End - Employees were potentially exposed to fire hazards and burn injuries in that the Central Boiler model CL 6048 wood burner was installed and used inside of the building. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct the condition include following the requirements set by the manufacturer by relocating the Boiler outdoors.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to Hoist components that had not been incorporated into an inspection program and/or inspected: A.) Production Floor - The 2-ton Yale Hoist did not have frequent (monthly) hook inspections with signed reports. B.) Production Floor - The 2-ton Yale Hoist did not have frequent (monthly) chain inspections with signed reports. C.) Production Floor - The 2-ton Yale Hoist did not have frequent (monthly) running rope inspections with signed reports. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct the conditions include: 1.) Comply with the manufacturer's / owner's manual recommendations for frequent and periodic inspections for each type of hoist used and follow a program of frequent and periodic inspections of the hoists in accordance with ASME B30.16. 2.) Specifically, conduct hook, chain, and running rope inspections. 3.) Develop an inspection schedule based on use and conditions outlined in the manufacturer's / owner's manual and ASME B3016. 4.) Document the above inspections.'s
