Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of being struck by or caught between automotive
vehicles and auto
motive vehicles and other stationary objects:
(a)  On or about 04/08/08, in the auto auction line at Bay C, employees
were exposed
to serious bodily injuries from moving vehicles while in position for
auction or resale.
Among other methods, feasible means of abatement would be to: 1. Develop
guidelines for safe
distance between vehicles positioned for the auction line-up; and enforce
established guidelines.
2. Provide additional training for temporary employees to ensure they
receive the same training
as regular employees in accordance with the company's "Basic Safety Rules
for Automobile
Auctions" orientation.
