Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to a fall of 22 feet while working from an unsafe
platform:
(a)Renegade Reconstruction and Coatings at 1365 Eagle Glen Dr., Steamboat
Springs, CO 80487:  The employer did not ensure the employee did not work
from an unsafe platform held aloft by a rough terrain forklift in that two
employees worked at approximately 35 - 40 feet high in a job made
platform.
This condition exposed the employees to hazards of fall of approximately
35 -
40 feet.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
is to provide a personnel platform which complies with the design
requirements as per
ASME B56.6-1992, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers - An
American
National
Standard - Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks, paragraphs
5.15 and 8.25.
