Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard:a)27 St. Georges Ave., Linden, NJ:Employee standing on the forks of the Traverse Lift during framing operations, was exposed to a fall of approximately 12 ft. to the ground below. ABATEMENT NOTES:AMONG OTHERS METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT HAZARD IS TO: Instruct employees to never be lifted on the forks of a forklift. Instruct employees to use an approved platform securely attached to the forks of the forklift. Ensure that employees exposed to fall hazards are protected from falling by use of guardrail system or fall protection system. Violation observed on or about 11/29/08
