Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a falling/crushing hazard: a- Dock Area - The employer's policy for loading/unloading trailers was not sufficient to ensure that trailers are not removed from the dock door(s) before they are completed and ready to be pulled from the dock. Condition noted on or about 7/13/09. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to develop and implement a specific procedure when loading/unloading trailers, including the use of dock locks, warning lights and chains.
