Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard: a)183 Sitgreaves St, Phillipsburg, N.J., Loading area outside Shipping Department. Employees were exposed to pipes falling while being loaded/unloaded from a flatbed trailer. Violation occurred on or about 8/12/09. ABATEMENT NOTE:AMONG OTHER MEANS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD. 1. Ensure that established procedures are followed during loading & unloading of trucks.
