Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential crushing hazards from falling loads and/or lift parts: (a) Employees were exposed to a crushing hazard while working around and under the Worth auto lift, serial number 0311811004, with missing or damaged contact pads at 30 Fifth Avenue in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to follow the requirements of ANSI/ALI ALOIM and/or ANSI B153.1 which includes, among other requirements, the following: 1. Institute a preventive maintenance program according to the manufacturer's specifications. 2. Schedule and complete all periodic and annual inspections.
