Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm including severe burns to employees, in that, employees were exposed to dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards from dust collectors that were located inside a building and were not equipped with an explosion suppression system. Bakery Department: On or about August 25, 2008, three (3) dust collectors that were located in the Bread Line area were not located outside the building and were not protected by containment, suppression, inerting, or venting system: a) One KB dust collector was adjacent to Bread Line #1. b) Two KB dust collectors were adjacent to the pita conveyors for Bread Line #1 and #2. AMONG OTHER METHODS, A FEASIBLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO INSTALL AN EXPLOSION SUPPRESSION SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH PARAGRAPH 10.4 OF NFPA 61 "PREVENTION OF FIRES AND DUST EXPLOSIONS IN AGRICULTURAL AND FOOD PROCESSING".
