Section 5(a)(1) of the occupational safety and health act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to laceration hazards while utilizing a power cutter without following the safety instructions set forth in the operator's manual. Location: 110 Middle Street, Fairhaven, MA On 6/25/08, an employee who was operating a Husqvarna K750 power cutter did not follow the operator's manual by placing cribbing underneath the material being cut, resulting in a laceration to his throat and shoulder when the power cutter's blade was pinched causing the power cutter to kick back. A feasible abatement method includes, but not limited to, ensuring that the safety instructions set forth in the operator's manual are followed.s
