Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with traveling over uneven surfaces while operating a powered industrial truck: Location: Facility's parking lot areas and perimeter roadway Workers were exposed to stability and tipping hazards while operating a powered industrial truck over asphalt pavement that contained numerous pot holes. Feasible abatement methods include but are not limited to: 1. Ensure that pot holes are repaired promptly to provide an even surface, per ANSI/ITSDF B56.1-2005 standards. 2. Ensure that pot holes are marked with safety cones to prevent powered industrial truck access.ial
