Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to Struck By hazards/Inhalation of Toxic Chlorine Gas: On or about: 05/22/2008 Location: Repackaging department a) Ton containers of liquid Chlorine were transported to and from filling stations on the forks of a Yale forklift truck. The ton containers were not restrained to prevent them from falling off. AMONG OTHERS, ONE FEASIBLE AND REASONABLE ABATEMENT METHOD IS TO: 1) Restrain ton containers to the forks per The Chlorine Institute's Chlorine Manual Pamphlet 1 section 2.6.3.
