Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that on or about October 8, 2008; at least one employee, who was performing a precipitation static (P-static) test on a Learjet 45, was exposed to fire and explosion hazards. AMONG OTHER METHODS, FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE MEANS TO ABATE THESE HAZARDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Train and instruct employees on proper safety and techniques on performing p-static test operations to include, but not be limited to: inspect the condition of protective grounds and equipment grounding conductors; ensure that equipment grounding conductors are tested prior to use for continuity; and, check cables and probe to ensure that they are free of dust and grease.
