General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that fall and struck-by hazards: Employees, who performed maintenance and service work from a locally fabricated platform that was supported by the forks of a Daewoo, G305-2, 6000 lb. capacity lift truck, were exposed to fall hazards of more than 10-feet to the lower level and struck-by hazards. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable means to abate these hazards is to assure that when lift trucks are used for elevating personnel, work-platforms are designed and used in accordance with the American National Standards/Industrial Truck Standards Development Foundation (ANSI/ITSDF) Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift Truck, B56.1 - 2005.
