Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and
struck-against
hazards:
On or about 8/26/2008, employees operated a Wollard conveyor truck with a
bald tire.
Among other methods of abatements, one feasible and useful method to
correct the hazards is
for the employer to monitor tire wear and tear through regular equipment
inspections and to
replace tires when the tread is worn down to 1/16 of an inch.
PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS
VIOLATION.
