North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: a)production area, for the industrial steel storage racks used to store palletized material, no front to back supports were used to prevent pallets from falling between the beams. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods include: 1. Install a rack decking system with a rated load capacity equal to or greater than the load rating of the rack beams. 2. Follow the guidelines established in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) MH 16.1-2004, Section 1 Paragraph 1.4.1, (4) Ensure that pallets are properly placed onto pallet load support members in a properly stacked and stable position.
